ARCTIC MX-4 Thermal Compound Review

 If you’re in the
market for thermal compound you’ve got a ton of choices out there. It’s hard to
make a decision isn’t it? Today for review I’ve got the newest thermal compound
from ARCTIC called MX-4 and I’ve that it’s pretty good stuff. So read on…

Arctic MX-4 Thermal Compound Review

Today for review I’ve got the new
Arctic MX-4 thermal compound from Arctic Cooling. This new compound
improves on the MX-3 in that it’s easier to apply and it’s less
expensive as well. The performance isn’t exactly record shattering,
but it does better than the couple others I put it up against, so I
guess that counts as something right? Read on….

Arctic Cooling ARCTIC MX-3 Thermal Compound

Keeping our CPUs cool require two
components, not just the cooler itself. You could have the most
expensive cooler out there, but if you’ve got junk thermal compound
you might as well be using the stock cooler instead.

Today for review I’ve got Arctic
Cooling Arctic MX-3 thermal compound. The MX-2 version performed very
well and received many awards. Let’s find out how the new version
performs, I’ve put it up against four other compounds for
comparison…

Coolink Chillaramic Thermal Compound Review

Coolink Chillaramic Thermal Compound

There are many choices we have when it
comes to thermal compounds and many have unique properties like no
burn-in time, and non-conductivity. Most thermal compounds are metal
based, usually silver to help conduct the heat from the CPU to the
cooler, but some use other types of materials like ceramics. All of
the newest thermal compounds out today are very close in performance
with minimal differences between them, which one you choose will
probably depend on your own specific preferences and the value you
get for your money.

Today for review I’ve got a new entry
into the thermal compound competition, it’s from Coolink and it’s
called Chillaramic. The ‘-ramic’ part of the name denotes that it is
a ceramic based compound, something that is sort of rare when it
comes to thermal compounds these days, most are metallic based
compounds as they’ve been shown to have the best thermal conductive
properties, but many newer ones have no metal particles at all in
them.

Technology has progressed to the point
where we can create thermal compounds that do not need metals for
conductance, this in turn is good for the end consumer as they will
be non-conductive compounds so there will be no worrying about
getting the compound other places and possibly shorting out our
system.

Gelid Thermal Compound GC-1

When it comes to thermal compounds we've got many choices, there was a time I remember when only one or two thermal compounds dominated the market, but now there are quite a few of them and it has become very competitive. This competition is a good thing for the end-user as it offers more choices and pushes manufacturers to create better products to beat out their competition.

Today for review I've got a newcomer to the industry, Gelid Solutions, established in 2008 as a thermal solutions provider, their first product is GC1 Thermal Compound. I received a pre-production sample for testing about a month ago actually, but yesterday their website finally went live so today I've got the review for you. How does this newcomer stand up to the competition? I've put it up against names like OCZ, Noctua and Arctic Cooling to see how the GC1 does in comparison testing.

So read on to see how it performed…

OCZ Freeze Thermal Compound Review

April 3, 2008

OCZ seems to have their hand in quite a bit and when they put their name on a product you expect something that performs well and is of good quality, and I’ve yet to see where that is not the case.

Today for review I’ve got the OCZ Freeze Thermal Compound, when you think of OCZ you normally think of quality ram, but they are into cooling as most people know. The OCZ Freeze is another entry into the every growing lineup of instantly ready compounds, meaning they have no burn-in time required, something that I think most people appreciate greatly. Not only is the OCZ Freeze instantly ready but also non-toxic and very easy to apply. How does it stand up to others out there?

Read on to find out..

Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Compound Review

There are so many companies out there now making their own thermal compounds now, most every company that makes a CPU cooler now has their very own thermal compound to go with it. Is that a bad thing? Not really, but how does a person know which one is really the best choice where the choices are so many? Well that’s why there are sites like this one to help people make informed decisions by throughly testing these products and comparing them to the other leading brands out there.

I just reviewed the Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler and with it came a small sample of their new NT-H1 thermal compound, they also sent me a full tube as well to test for review purposes. It just so happened I was also in process of doing a thermal paste round-up comparison when this arrived for review so the timing was great to get a good comparison of the NT-H1 against the four others I’d already tested so far. So continue on to learn more about the new Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound and see how it compares to the leading brands out there today…

There are many companies out there today making thermal compounds and vying for your dollars. At one point the best was Arctic Silver, but some of these other companies are pushing them out of that top spot, and let’s face it you can’t be on top forever. With all the choices out there today, besides obviously performance, what is the final deciding factor on which to purchase? The price? The quantity? Or other special features. Today for review I’ve got a new entry into the thermal compound arena called MX-2, and it’s from Arctic Cooling, a company that is highly respected for it’s quality and the performance of their products. So I decided to put it up against the top dog, Arctic Silver 5 and see just how it fares…

JetArt Nano Diamond Thermal Compound

February 26, 2007

They say Diamonds are a girls best friend, well that might be true but I think they may be a geeks or enthusiasts best friend as well… I’m talking of course of the thermal properties of diamonds, diamonds are the best thermally conductive substance out there, so of course having a diamond based thermal compound would be probably the best choice for a thermal compound. There has been talk of diamond based thermal compound, but most people have thought it is not cost-effective and that it would be very expensive, not quite true really, you are not using huge amount of diamonds for the compound, just mere nano dust really. Today for review I have a diamond based thermal compound, it is called Nano Diamond, and it is from our friends at JetArt. One thing very special about this compound is that it is 100% thermally conductive from day one so you don’t have to wait through cycles for it to reach its optimum thermal performance… So read on to learn more about this diamond stuff…

‘The Chill Factor’ Thermalright Thermal Compound

January 4, 2007

Everyone pretty much knows that Thermalright makes excellent quality products, their products have won numerous awards for their excellence in design, quality and performance. Up until now, Thermalright has only made the cooling products, now they have ventured into making their own thermal compound called ‘The Chill Factor’. This was the natural next step for a company like Thermalright, so today for review I have ‘The Chill Factor’ and I will be comparing it to the well known Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound to see how it compares to the king of thermal compounds… So let’s just jump right into this review…
