Seagate BlackArmor NAS 220 6TB Network Attached Storage Review

The NAS box comes in many shapes, sizes and configurations and from my experience most all of them are very useful. Seagate is a huge storage company and it’s a just a logical next step for them to produce their own NAS box. Up for review today is the NAS 220, which is a 6tb NAS box, it has two Seagate 3tb drives inside of it in a default Raid 1 configuration for a usable capacity of 3tb which can be a lot. The NAS 220 can be utilized in the home or even an office where access to your files would be needed, either on your network or access while you’re away. The box itself is well made, it’s metal and it’s fairly small and compact overall. The NAS 220 shows some decent performance in my tests, but it’s much stronger on the read side of things. So read on to learn more…

Thecus N2200XXX NAS Server Review

One of my favorite products are NAS boxes, I’m not sure
exactly why. I think it’s the fact that they’re just so useful. NAS boxes are
much better than just an external hard drive ever could be that’s for sure.
Thecus is a company that’s well known for their NAS systems, they make some of
the best on the market. They’ve recently introduced a new line of NAS servers
called XXX, the X’s stand for Xtreme Power, Xtreme Function and Xtreme Value.
Today for review I’ve got the latest NAS server from Thecus called the N2200XXX,
so let’s just get into it as we’ve got a lot to cover.

QNAP TS-259 Pro Turbo NAS Review

NAS boxes are the new storage system
for your computer seriously.. There was a time when USB drives ruled
for your backup and storage needs, but why use them when NAS boxes
offer so much more.

Today for review I’ve got another NAS
box from QNAP called the TS-259 Pro. This box can use either 2.5”
or 3.5” drives and features an Intel Atom Processor along with one
gig of DDR2 ram. The TS-259 Pro also features five USB ports along
with two eSATA ports and two gigabit ethernet connections as well.
I’ve put it up against the Thecus N3200 pro that I’ve been using for
over a year now and found that it’s a bit faster, so read on…

Thecus N2200 Dual bay NAS Box

Thecus N2200 Dual bay NAS Box

It’s been a while for an update here,
but I promise I’ve got a lot of stuff coming up for review here,
including Xbox360 games now as well. We’ve got accessories, coolers
and games up for review. Life though sometimes interferes with our
plans to do much of anything and that’s what’s going on lately, my
life is just a bit hectic especially with the holidays. So stay tuned
for more good stuff from us…

Network Attached Storage or NAS boxes
are the future of storage. Personally I don’t even really use
external hard drive anymore for my backups in favor of a NAS box or
two. NAS boxes are just so much more useful, you can do much more
than backup files. They can easily replace an external portable hard
drive since you can connect right from the internet to get your files
if need be. With a NAS you don’t have to take anything with you, just
connect remotely to access your files. NAS boxes are much more than
that though, they can be used as a webserver, FTP server, and even a
media server. The majority of them out there are very easy to setup
and pretty much everyone with any level of computer knowledge will be
able to access and share files via the NAS web interface. I love my
NAS boxes, they allow me to access my files from virtually anywhere
in the world. They also let me share my pictures etc with everyone on
my network and eve my friends across the country or the world. With a
NAS box I now don’t have to worry about file size limitation for
emails, if someone needs to send me a file or press kit or whatever
they can just access my NAS and upload it directly to me.

It’s been a while since any of Thecus
products have graced our site, but today I’ve got one of their newest
ones the N2200. It’s a two bay NAS box that can use both 2.5” and
3.5” hard drives. The designed is different than other Thecus
products I’ve reviewed before, it’s aesthetically pleasing, it’s got
small size and it’s easy to use. The N2200 can be plenty of things
for you like a webserver, ftp server, iTunes server, standard media
server and several more things as well. It’s a feature rich product
that not only looks great but performs fairly well. So read on to
learn more and see how it compares to my Seagate BlackArmor NAS220
box…

QNAP TS-419P Turbo NAS

Qnap TS-419P Turbo NAS

A network attached storage device or
NAS box is a wonderful product I feel. I’ve pretty much abandoned
using external hard drives for my backups and use only NAS boxes,
they’re faster and they much more useful and I can access them while
I’m away, but I can also allow other people on my network to use it
as well. NAS boxes are the new external backup devices really, there
was a time when an external hard drive was what everyone used, those
have their place, but just not for backups anymore. At least that’s
how I feel about it anyway…

Today for review I’ve got a rather
large NAS box, the TS-419P from QNAP that houses four hard drives to
give you a ton of storage. The TS-419P not only offers a lot of
storage but tons of other features as well, so read on to learn all
about it…

Thecus N3200 NAS Box Review

It’s nice to be able to take stuff our
data with us wherever we go in the form of USB drives or portable
hard drives, but there are times when it just isn’t feasible to take
these things with us. In the world we live in now it’s quite possible
that while traveling you could have your laptop and data seized at
the border, for everyone that’s just not something we want to happen.
The laws are just amazing now, we live in basically a police state
where not even our personal data is safe, it’s bad enough to lose
personal stuff but even worse when it’s our business and work related
data. Sure there are things you can do to secure your data, but what
does it matter when your entire laptop is confiscated? You’ve lost
everything basically, the state of things right now is something to
discuss elsewhere, but there are things you can do to minimize your
potential losses such as a NAS box, or Network Attached Storage
system that allows you to access your information from anywhere you
go via the web. Some NAS boxes are more than just for accessing data
from afar, they can offer many other features as well..

Today for review I’ve got an excellent
product from Thecus, it’s the N3200 NAS box and it is a truly feature
rich product that can add a new dimension to your storage
capabilities of your home network. The N3200 is essentially a home
storage server and it’s billed as a ‘Home NAS’ but it’s much more
than that, it offers features that even a small business can utilize.
With the N3200 you can have up to 3 Terabytes of storage capacity
added to your network, the N3200 also offers various RAID solutions
including RAID 5 which offers excellent security and performance for
your data. On top of the security features theN3200 offers the
ability to stream your media to other devices, a built in
surveillance system with compatible webcams, HTTP, FTP and Bittorrent
file transfer protocols, a print server, and even the ability to be
wirelessly networked. The N3200 in physical size is small as well,
but don’t let it’s size fool you, it’s a fully featured NAS box that
anyone can utilize for their storage needs.

So enough chit-chat, let’s just get
into this review, I’ve got lots of pictures and tons of screen shots
as well, so sit back, relax and enjoy…
