Jetart HDD Guard 3.5 HDD Protector (CK6000)

Today for review I have a product that I have to wonder why it took so long for someone to come up with… It is a Hard Drive Protector, called the HDD Guard from Jetart, but it’s for when the HDD is out of your case, maybe it’s just sitting on the shelf, or you are transporting it somewhere, but a bare drive is pretty much unprotected. Sure you can put it in one of those plastic casings, or in a box, but why, when you have a product like this? It’s just really cool, and extremely useful, especially for those of us that have a few spare HDDs floating around. This could come in handy for system builders, repair specialists, enthusiasts, or just about anyone who has a spare HDD. This is one of those products that I can see as becoming part of any enthusiasts toolkit, and I can also see it becoming very popular overall. Read on to check it out…

A Better Look at Things

:

First up the packaging, not much to it really, plastic front, cardboard backing. On the front you can plainly see the HDD Guard along with a few features listed.

The back of the package has a more detailed list of features and specs along with a few nice pictures. You can see the HDD Guard can essentially be used as a makeshift portable HDD enclosure as well, if you have the proper equipment.

The HDD Guard itself is made up entirely of silicone rubber, there are air holes on the bottom, while the top is almost fully open to allow you to read the label of the drive.

On the inside of the HDD Guard, along on the sides are silicone bumps that cushion your HDD, they act sort of like bubble wrap to protect your hard drive and its data.

One side of the HDD guard has a cut out section on it, that is the side where you HDD power and data connection would be so you can access it if need be. If you aren’t going to be accessing it, you can just flip it around so the HDD guard will protect the ports from dust or whatever can get in there.

I just can’t say enough about this product, it is just so cool. The HDD guards are also made to be stackable as well, they interlock if you have more than one of them together. Being it is made entirely of silicone it is very lightweight and seems to be very durable as it is rather thick actually.

Installation, Testing and Comparison

Well as you can imagine, installation is very easy, you just stretch or slip it over your hard drive and your done. It fits tightly on the drive but not overly tight, just nice and snug. (like a bug in a rug….)

Like I mentioned earlier, the bottom has air holes to allow you HDD to breathe if need be, and you can see the little bumps on the corners that will fit into the top of another HDD guard. This is one of those products that the hard drive companies should be using as standard accessories to be shipped with every hard drive, it is extremely useful, and I’m sure it is inexpensive to make.

You can install your hard drive with the ports showing or not, it depends on what configuration you might need, but it’s cool to have the option to be able to use it as a quick external enclosure. The HDD guard protects against vibrations etc while the drive is spinning, so it is much safer than just using a bare drive on your desk or wherever.

What can I say, it’s just so darn cool!

Summary:

Well it’s a short review, but it just a cool little product overall. Normally you would think I would get excited about getting big cool products for review, but sometimes it the little things that are the best, it’s the ones that surprise us that are the most exciting to get for review. The HDD Guard from Jetart is one of those products that is pretty much perfect all around and is just extremely useful for pretty much everyone from the average Joe to the Enthusiast Techie and on up the line. This is one of those products that I have to say go and get one, you won’t regret it!

DragonSteelMods gives the HDD Guard a 5 out of 5 score and our Editor’s Choice Award as well.
