Micro SD / T-Flash Card Reader

Micro SD / T-Flash Card Reader

microSD cards are extremely popular and
have been gaining that popularity for a couple years now so I’m
surprised that you don’t see more microSD card readers on the market
today, usually a microSD card comes bundled with an SD card adapter
and that’s it. Now SD cards on the other hand often times come
bundled with a USB card reader, but for the most part microSD cards
do not, the only company that I know that sometimes or did bundle a
USB reader with their microSD cards is ATP. Considering how popular
they are you’d think you would see more of them out there but you
just don’t for whatever reason…

For review today I’ve got a Micro
SD / T-Flash Card Reader from our friends at USBFever and it’s possibly the world’s smallest card reader on the market
today. A little while ago I reviewed the SuperTalent Pico-C Gold USB
drive and this reader is actually a tiny bit smaller than the Pico-C
Gold so it’s a very portable and very useful little gadget. Throw a
microSD card into it and you’ve got the making of the world’s
smallest USB drive!

A Better Look at Things

}

A
Better Look at Things:

The Micro SD / T-Flash Card Reader
comes in an easy open plastic clamshell style package with the reader
right on the front and information listed on the front and the back.

The only thing that comes with the
reader is a breakable keychain, it unscrews so you can remove the
reader and leave the other half still attached to you keychain, phone
etc. The reader is tiny with the words ‘microsd USB 2.0 adapter’
written on it, the microSD card slides into the bottom of the reader.

Installation,
Testing and Comparison:

Here’s the microSD Reader side by
side with my Super talent Pico-C Gold USB drive and sitting on a
quarter to show you the size of the reader itself, and yes it’s
small, and very lightweight.

There’s not much to the
installation process unless of course you count attaching the
keychain section and sticking a microSD card into the reader part of
the installation process… the microSD card just slides right in and
fells fairly secure once it’s in there, the knot on the keychain also
helps to hold the card in place actually.

and I almost didn’t notice it but
there is a tiny blue LED inside of the reader that shines light out
through the card slot if you look closely, it’s solid blue when
powered on and blinks when accessing the card:

Well for comparison I have a
couple other microSD card readers which are similar but not nearly as
small, they work the same way via USB, and the speeds were all pretty
much the same so I’m not going to bore you with a graph that tells
you exactly that. For the most part the speeds you’ll get from a
reader are dependent on the microSD card itself and they are all not
the same.

I’ve been using the Micro Drive
microSD card reader that I got from Brando WorkShop a while back as
my ‘official’ microSD card reader, but now that I’ve got this one
from USBFever I’ll be using it for all my microSD needs…

One thing I do really like about
this reader, besides being small, is that you can just throw any
microSD card into it and you’ve got a very tiny USB flash drive as
well.
