I’m sure you know that not all thermal compounds are the same, just like anything there are good and there are bad and I try and use the best I can find even if it only offers a  one of two degree difference. be quiet! has just announced the availability of their own brand of thermal compound called DC1 and only time and reviews will tell just how good it is compared to the other offerings on the market…

be quiet! announced today the availability of the new high performance thermal compound DC1. The new paste is the logical extension of the award-winning cooler portfolio of the German company. With its excellent heat conducting properties and its extremely simple handling, the paste is suitable for both normal users and Overclockers.

Through the perfect combination of metal oxides and silicon the new be quiet! thermal compound DC1 has a theoretical thermal conductivity of about 7.5 W / mK. Thus it offers several degrees Celsius advantage over conventional thermal compounds, as used for example in many ready-build-systems. Overclockers can also improve their results with the DC1. Thanks to a wide temperature range of -50 to +150 ° C, DC1 is suitable for various cooling methods.

Its unique composition allows the paste to be applied easily. be quiet! ‘s DC1 comes in a handy syringe, which allows for a neat and tidy application onto the CPU die. For a perfect and planar layer of thermal compound there is an extra enclosed spatula. A syringe with 3 grams of be quiet!’s DC1 costs EUR 6.49 and is available in stores now.

Advanced features include »
▪ Very high thermal conductivity of 7.5W/mK for exceptional heat transfer between chip and cooler
▪ Premium formulation:
» Metal oxide compounds: 60%
» Zinc oxide compounds: 30%
» Silicone compounds: 10%
▪ Impressive temperature range of -50°C to +150°C

Noctua NH-C14 CPU Cooler Review

Noctua is a company known for making quality and well
performing CPU Coolers, some of the best on the market today surely. They’ve
recently introduced a new cooler called the NH-C14 which gets its name from
the ‘C’ shape that the cooler is. The NH-C14 comes equipped with two Noctua NF-P14
140mm fans for excellent cooling performance. The two fans are mounted, one on
top and one on the bottom, and you can configure it however you like. If you
need more room beneath the cooler then just use the top fan. The NH-C14 is made
to be versatile and have good performance at the same time.

Arctic MX-4 Thermal Compound Review

Today for review I’ve got the new
Arctic MX-4 thermal compound from Arctic Cooling. This new compound
improves on the MX-3 in that it’s easier to apply and it’s less
expensive as well. The performance isn’t exactly record shattering,
but it does better than the couple others I put it up against, so I
guess that counts as something right? Read on….

CoolIT ECO A.L.C. CPU Cooler Review

I’ve had an interesting morning, I went
to the gas station and got to see my first ‘real’ counterfeit bill.
It was a $10 bill and he was showing the other employee how it shows
black instead of yellow with their special marker. I’m in there all
of the time and they know me and he showed it to me, the thing looked
very real to me, but looking closer you could see the watermark
portrait was missing from the back. He was putting it in an envelope
I guess to turn it in or something, I wonder what they have to do
with them, do they give them to the police or is that like some
federal thing?! Oh well, that’s how I started my morning…

Today for review I’ve got another CPU
cooler, but this one is a bit special in that it’s a liquid cooling
system that’s truly an all-in-one solution. It’s called the ECO
A.L.C. and it’s from CoolIt. The ECO ALC is very small, and it’s
compatible with most every CPU out there. The pump is actually
integrated into the water block that goes onto your CPU and the fan
and radiator are attached to each other so all you’ve got to do is
take a few minutes and install it like you would most other coolers
out there. There’s no fuss, no mess, no running tubing, it’s ready to
go out of the box, there’s even thermal compound pre-applied so you
don’t even have to do that. I’ve put it up against a couple other air
coolers for comparison so read on to see how it performs..

Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler Review

Today for review I’ve got another CPU
Cooler from our friends at Thermaltake called the Frio. This cooler
is aimed at those that like to overclock their CPUs. The Frio is
fairly large but it performs very well especially when running on an
overclocked CPU. It comes with two fans that have in-line speed
controllers on them, and the cooler itself features five U-shaped
heatpipes. I’ve put it up against my current CPU cooler, the Noctua
NH-U12P on my Corei5 750 CPU running at both stock and overclocked
speeds and I have to say that I am truly impressed by the performance
of this cooler. So read on…

Noctua NH-U9B SE2 CPU Cooler

Time
after time Noctua has proven to us at Dragonsteelmods that they make
some of the finest CPU cooling solutions on the market. Recently we
received their latest LGA1156/LGA1366 cooler – the NH-U9B SE2 and
today we will be looking at it in detail. Noctua designed this
cooler to provide maximal cooling while remaining whisper quiet with
HTPC and smaller enclosures in mind.

Looking
at the NH-U9B SE2
you may
notice its similarities to the bigger Noctua
NH-U12P
cooler. In fact the NH-U9B SE2 is almost identical in form other
than the smaller size.

The
NH-U9B SE2 includes Noctua’s SecuFirm2 multisocket mounting system
which allows this cooler to work with numerous socket configurations
including: LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA775, AM2, AM2+ and AM3. Noctua built
this CPU cooler around their highly regarded NH-U9 series of compact
coolers. They also provide two 92mm
NF-B9 fans with included Low-Noise
and Ultra-Low-Noise-Adaptors. According to Noctua the
two
fans are designed to work best in a push-pull arrangement.
Plus
Noctua warranties this cooler for six years.

So let’s
take a closer look at the NH-U9B SE2
.
Let’s get started…..

Arctic Cooling ARCTIC MX-3 Thermal Compound

Keeping our CPUs cool require two
components, not just the cooler itself. You could have the most
expensive cooler out there, but if you’ve got junk thermal compound
you might as well be using the stock cooler instead.

Today for review I’ve got Arctic
Cooling Arctic MX-3 thermal compound. The MX-2 version performed very
well and received many awards. Let’s find out how the new version
performs, I’ve put it up against four other compounds for
comparison…

Arctic Cooling Accelero L2 Pro VGA Cooler Review

Arctic Cooling Accelero L2 Pro VGA Cooler

The video card coolers out there
usually look really good, but they’re usually also fairly loud and
they don’t do too good of a job at keeping your card cool really. Yes
they keep the temps below the manufacturers recommendations but
that’s about all they do, and they’re normally loud in the process of
doing so. Some manufacturers have started putting after market
cooling solutions on their cards because they’ve realized that we,
the customers, don’t want a video card that sounds like a small plane
taking off inside of our PC cases. Those types of coolers though are
usually found on special edition cards, or only by certain companies,
not many have really caught on to this yet, and that’s unfortunate
for us, but fortunate for companies like Arctic Cooling who produce
after market VGA coolers.

Yesterday I took a look at a CPU cooler
from Arctic Cooling, the Alpine 11 Pro, today I’ve got the Accelero
L2 Pro VGA cooler for review. I’ve installed it on my
ECS
Nvidia GTS250
video card and I can say it does
a better job than the stock cooler and it’s much quieter, but it
takes up three slots because of its height so depending on your setup
you might have an issue with installation.

Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler

At Dragonsteelmods, we have reviewed
several Noctua products which have received a fair amount of
accolades from our site and others. With the release of the Intel
LGA1366 based CPUs also known as the Core i7 series, there is a need
for new performance coolers. Instead of designing a totally new
cooler, Noctua took their acclaimed cooler the
NH-U12P and modified the SecuFirm mounting system to work with the LGA1366
based motherboards.

Acoustic
PC
was kind enough to send us not only the NH-U12P SE1366 CPU
Cooler, but they included the Noctua NH-C12P for comparison, which
can also be mounted with the SecuFirm 2 system onto an x58
motherboard. Although the NH-C12P is not sold with the mounting
equipment for the LGA1366 based motherboards; that problem can be
easily resolved by picking up the LGA1366 SecuFirm2 Mounting-Kit from
Noctua.

If you’ve read Kris’ previous
Noctua reviews, you will notice that Noctua have set a high standard
with their products. So let’s see how the NH-U12P SE1366 pairs up
with the Core i7 builds. Let’s get started, shall we?
