Hornettek Fusion iPhone 4 Case Review

July 21, 2011
By

Today’s review is an iPhone 4 case from HornetTek a company usually known for their computer accessories.  Recently they entered the Apple device accessory market. The Fusion is the second iPhone 4 case from HornetTek that I have come across.

It is a clear style shell case that has differs from competitors with its customizable back.  HornetTek includes a transparent iPhone 4 card that can be used to outline images to be cut and placed inside the back of the case creating a unique case design.  I am surprised this is the first time I have seen this concept with any of the Apple portable devices.  This is definitely something my nine-year-old daughter would love for her iPod Touch.

Hornettek Defender 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure Review

When it comes to USB enclosures you’ve got plenty of choices
that’s for sure, but most are fairly basic. If you want something that’s rough
and rugged you’ll most likely have to buy a specialized one that includes a
hard drive inside and pay a premium price for it. Luckily our friends at
Hornettek have a solution for that called the Defender that will thoroughly
protect your hard drive from bumps and most everything else you can throw at it
on a daily basis.

NZXT Tempest EVO Case Review

NZXT Tempest EVO Case Review

NZXT was kind
enough to send DragonSteelMods the latest version of their Tempest case – the Tempest
EVO.  While the original Tempest was a
very well received case, NZXT did not rest on their laurels and made some
improvements creating the Tempest EVO.  This case is designed with the PC enthusiast and/or gamer in mind.

Improvements
include fan blade redesign to provide more effective cooling, all black
interior and exterior, improved cable management and a smoked side panel.  If cooling is a priority then this case is
definitely one to keep in mind as it has six fans and numerous vent openings
for maximal air flow; living up to its Tempest name.

Mionix Propus 380 Gaming Mousepad Review

Mionix Propus 380 Gaming Mousepad Review

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the mousepad is
one of those things that many people take for granted or overlook actually.
It’s one of those things that people just don’t seem to care about. People have
come to understand that a good mouse and a good keyboard can enhance their
computing experience but then they’ll still use that cheap free mousepad. A
good mousepad is not only good for gaming but for also everyday use. I’ve
tested many pads in my time and the technology seems to be getting better and
better with new combinations of materials being used to create an excellent
mousing surface.

Mionix has sent me over their new gaming mousepad called the
Propus 380 and it’s big, I like big pads though so it’s a nice fit for me. The
pad is unique looking in both its shape and aesthetic looks with a flake
metallic surface. The pad is certainly one of the best I’ve come across and
it’s inexpensive as well.

Zowie P-RF Mousing Surface

Zowie P-RF Mousing Surface

Hey look, this is review number 600 for
us! Wow, 600 reviews in 4 ½ years, not bad. So how are we
celebrating 600 reviews? We’re not right now… Maybe later we’ll have
some sort of giveaway but as of right now there’s no time for
celebrations. It’s about time to upgrade our hosting I think, and do
a little re-design or so, a few tweaks here and there I think. So be
patient as things will be changing and there may be some down time
within the next couple weeks or so, it all depends how much time I’ve
got to spare.

Today for review I’ve got the Zowie
Gear P-RF mousepad or mousing surface, yesterday we looked at the
Ulti-mat Breathe F-X3, so I figured why not follow with another pad
review. The P-RF is a small pad, but not too small, a bit larger than
a standard sheet of paper really, coming in at 13.4 x 11.4 inches.
The P-RF features a rubber non-slip backing and it has a water splash
proof surface, not sure exactly what that means though. Anyway, read
on to learn more…

Ulti-mat Breathe F-X3

I’ve taken a look at a few Ulti-mat
brand mousing surfaces and for the most part they’re fairly decent
overall, but not perfect. Today I’ve got their newest pad called the
Breathe F-X3 and it’s similar to the other Ulti-mat pads I’ve looked
at in that it’s cloth and has a non-slip backing to it, but the F-X3
is larger than the others. I’ve tested it with three mice I’ve got on
hand, so read on to learn more about it…

XTracPads Hybrid Mousing Surface

XTracPads Hybrid Mousing Surface

I remember many years ago when I was
looking for a better mousepad than I had at the time, I stumbled
across of few reviews and posts about a company called XTrac and from
what I read their products came well recommended. I liked the look of
the pad, and what I read about them so I decided to buy one for
myself, and it turned out it was worth the money I spent on it. Since
then of course I’ve gotten many pads for review from various
companies, but none have been quite like the
XTracPads,
I really like the design on them, the overall quality, and the fact
that they’re just a good all around product.

Today for review I’m taking a look at a
new mousepad from XTracPads called the Hybrid. What makes this pad
special is the fact that it appears to be a cloth mousepad, but yet
has the slickness and qualities of a plastic surface through a
process of blending plastic to the cloth on a molecular level to
create a very good mousing surface. The Hybrid has the qualities of a
cloth pad in that it can be rolled and taken with you, and, and
mentioned, the qualities of a plastic pad as well, truly a hybrid pad
that gives the user the best of both worlds.

So read on to learn more about the
XTracPads Hybrid mousing surface…

Gelid Solutions Wing, Silent PWM and TC 120mm and 92mm Fans Reviewed

Gelid Solutions Wing, Silent PWM and TC 120mm and 92mm Fans Reviewed

Fans are in most every PC case you’ll
find today as a means of keeping the system cool, it works well for
the most part, but not all fans are created equal. Some fans are very
loud, and some don’t move that much air around the case, so most
people will try and find a happy medium that moves a lot of air while
remaining relatively silent at the same time.

Today for review I’ve got six fans from Gelid
Solutions
, in total there are three 92mm fans and
three 120mm fans to be put to the test. Four of the fans are from the
Gelid Silent line of fans, two of them are TC or Temperature
Controlled fans, two more are PWM controlled fans. The final two fans
up for review are special fans aimed towards the enthusiast called
the Wing, these fans are brightly colored with neon green blades and
a black frame, but what really makes the Wing special are the
features of them, and especially the fact that the blades can be
removed from the housing for cleaning.

So continue on to learn more about six
great fans from our friends at Gelid Solutions…

Xigmatek SD964 HDT CPU Cooler Review

Xigmatek SD964 HDT CPU Cooler Review

Keep those CPUs cool, that’s the main
thing most people worry about with their computers, and for the most
part the stock coolers do a decent job, but there are those of use
that desire to keep our CPUs running cooler than the stock solution
can provide. We all know that the cooler the CPU is the longer it
will last, at least theoretically, and of course if the CPU is cooler
there is always room for a bit of overclocking as well to eek out a
bit more performance.

Up on the review block today I’ve got
one from Xigmatek, it’s the SD964 HDT CPU cooler, not a real fancy
name, but then again what’s in a name right? It really doesn’t matter
what it’s called as long as it performs! The SD964 is a small
heatpipe style CPU cooler, at least in comparison to others on the
market today, but it is by no means small in terms of performance.
The SD964 dominates over most others out there in our tests on both
C2D and C2Q CPUs…

Cheetah LCD HDTV Screen Protector Review

Cheetah LCD HDTV Screen Protector Review

The Nintendo Wii is one of the most innovative console systems in recent memory. It has become incredibly popular with all age groups due to the motion sensing ability of the controllers. Unfortunately, one risk in using these controllers is the possibility of them flying out of one’s hands and hitting other people or objects. Although they do come with a safety strap, some people eschew them while playing the Wii. Combine this situation and the increased number of LCD and Plasma TVs found in todays households, this creates a recipe for disaster. A smashed display can truly be a devastating scenario.

Unfortunately for one person, James Mieczkowski of the Cheetah Websites Corporation, this exact scenario occurred when his seven-year-old smashed a hole in his new $2,500 LG Flat Screen with a Wii remote.

CSP01

Luckily for the rest of us, he decided to design a product to protect most sized LCD/Plasma TVs from the scourge of flying Wiimotes. Using an ultra high strength acrylic that is nearly indestructible, he created the Cheetah Screen Protector. Composed of ¼” Plexiglas and elevated away from the television screen with ¼” rubber spacers, the Cheetah Screen Protector provides a ½” buffer between the outside world and your HDTV.

Available in sizes from 22” to 52”, there should be a model that fits most mainstream consumer HDTVs. TvScreenProtector.com even has specially designed protectors for 46” to 52” Sony XBR models.

As a Wii owner and father of two little children, I become very anxious when they decide to play the Wii in front of our LCD HDTV. Today, we will see if the Cheetah Screen Protector can provide some peace of mind and not negatively affect the HDTV viewing experience.

Let’s get started….
