D-Link DGS-2208 8-Port 10/100/1000 Desktop Switch Review

Home networks are nice, and depending what you do and how much stuff you have in your house you might need to expand it. Wireless is nice, it’s simple but it’s not exactly fast, when you want speed you’ve got to go with wired.. I do this product reviewing thing for a living basically and I’ve got lots of stuff on my network including two computers for my family. I’ve got so much that I’ve got two 8 port gigabit switches, sure they’re not full yet but they’re getting there. I could use wireless yes, but for streaming and transfers large files it’s just no the best choice really, at least in my opinion. I like my gigabit network for the speed of it plain and simple.

I get a lot of products for review from companies, but from time to time I like to review stuff that I actually buy myself especially if I have had a good experience with it and like it. The idea is to share with you something that I found to be a good product, and one that I would recommend to you if you were looking for something like it.

Today for review I’ve got the D-Link DGS-2208 8-Port 10/100/1000 Desktop Switch and I’ve found that it fits my needs perfectly. The DGS-2208 is a no frills, truly plug-and-play solution to expanding your network and best of all it’s green, or at least it claims to be. With this switch you won’t find all sorts of fancy options or even access to it from your network, you just plug it in and it does it’s thing automatically, couldn’t be easier really.. So read on to learn more about an inexpensive but yet decent switch to quickly and easily expand your network.

Arctic MX-4 Thermal Compound Review

Today for review I’ve got the new
Arctic MX-4 thermal compound from Arctic Cooling. This new compound
improves on the MX-3 in that it’s easier to apply and it’s less
expensive as well. The performance isn’t exactly record shattering,
but it does better than the couple others I put it up against, so I
guess that counts as something right? Read on….

Zaward 140mm ZG2-140A Golf Fan GII Review

Today I’ve got an exciting review for
you, well not really, it’s a fan, how exciting can that be right? It
does have an interesting design though, the blades are dimpled like a
golf ball and supposedly reduce noise levels by up to 15%, while
still running at the same speed and providing the same amount of air
flow as other fans. The fan is a 140mm fan from Zaward called the
Golf GII, so read on to check it out.

Unitek USB 3.0 TO SATA ADAPTER Review

Today for review I’ve got an SATA to
USB 3.0 adapter from Unitek, it was provided by USBFever.com for our
review today. This adapter is like others that utilize USB 2.0 on the
market, but this one of course uses the USB 3.0 specification and

Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler Review

Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler Review

Today for review I’ve got another CPU
Cooler from our friends at Thermaltake called the Frio. This cooler
is aimed at those that like to overclock their CPUs. The Frio is
fairly large but it performs very well especially when running on an
overclocked CPU. It comes with two fans that have in-line speed
controllers on them, and the cooler itself features five U-shaped
heatpipes. I’ve put it up against my current CPU cooler, the Noctua
NH-U12P on my Corei5 750 CPU running at both stock and overclocked
speeds and I have to say that I am truly impressed by the performance
of this cooler. So read on…

Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 Pro CPU Cooler

Few things are more important than
keeping your computer well ventilated and cool. Overheating can lead
to your computer turning off on you, sluggish work and worst of all,
damaged hardware. One of the principal parts to keep cool is the
CPU, using a high-quality CPU cooler that will throw away the heat
your CPU generates. Today, I’ve got a great cooler up for review –
Arctic Cooling’s Alpine 64 Pro cooler. While the Alpine 64 Pro
presents itself as a very straightforward looking extruded aluminum
heatsink, it has a lot of high quality components and design aspects
that make it a very effective device for sufficient cooling and very
low noise production.

That’s what the Alpine 64 Pro is all
about – dispersing the heat and minimizing buzz noise.

Thermaltake ISGC Fan 12 120MM Fan

Today I figured why not take a look at
another Thermaltake product, this time it’s a fan, while it might not
be as exciting as the BlacX I looked at yesterday, it’s still a good
product. The fan is a new design by Thermaltake, they took cues from
other companies and basically re-designed this fan from the ground
up. It’s called the ISGC 12, and it features a unique fan blade
design to keep things quiet but yet promotes good airflow, it also
features an in-line speed controller and comes with silicone
fasteners to further keep things quiet. I’ve put the ISGC up against
three other fans I’ve got on hand for comparison, so read on to see
how the Thermaltake stacks up…

Nanoxia FX Series 80mm Fans

We’ve all got fans in our cases to keep
our computers cool, but some of those fans, especially those that
come in a pre-built system can be quite loud so we need to find a
quiet replacement, but yet one that can still keep our systems cool.

Today for review I’ve got two of the FX
Series of 80MM fans from Nanoxia, a 1600RPM fan and a 3000RPM fans.
In my time with these fans I’ve found them to be very well made,
quiet and they can move quite a bit of air around. These fans come
included with silicone bolts to keep them even quieter and a PCI
bracket style fan controller as well.

Flash memory storage capacities are
growing, while the prices have dramatically decreased. What once
cost several hundred dollars can now be had for under one hundred
bucks. Still it is important to use quality flash memory; otherwise
those precious memories may quickly become fleeting memories.

Today we will look at the top of the
line Compact Flash card from ATP – the Promax II. Established in
1991, ATP has over 17 years of experience in the design, manufacture,
and support of high performance, highest quality DRAM modules and
NAND flash storage products. These cards feature the fastest write
transfer speeds available making them great for digital SLR camera
use. In addition they have write transfer speeds of 30 MB/Sec.

Today we will compare this Compact

XILENCE internal fan control panel 3.5″

XILENCE internal fan control panel 3.5"

Fan controllers are one of those things
that are often overlooked by many people, they’re just not one of those
exciting products really, I mean they control the speed of your fans,
what fun is that right? Well they have a use really, especially if
you like a quiet system as I do, I like to be able to have my system
as quiet as possible, and yet keep it cool. Quiet is nice when I’m
watching a movie or working, but if I’m playing a game the sound
doesn’t bother me as much as there’s noise from the game to drown it
out. So with a fan controller I can turn the fans down low when need
be, and when I’m gaming I can turn the fans up higher to provide
additional cooling for the components in my system.

So, Xilence sent me over their new
Internal Fan Control Panel that fits into a 3.5” bay, it features
the ability to control the speed of up to three fans, and has lighted
accents around the dials which are also reactive to sound. You can of
course turn the lighting off, or all the way on, or even adjust the
sensitivity of the lighting reactions to sounds.

I’m sure most of you don’t use the 3.5”
bay anyway so why not throw a good fan controller in there?
