Contour Design iSee, Flick, and HardSkin Cases for iPhone 3G Reviewed

by Tom Ratas • August 11, 2008

A Better Look at Things and Installation

The packaging for all three cases is almost identical for all three cases.

They come in a black cardboard with the Counter Design logo in light blue and a light blue border around the clear plastic display window. The bottom right corner indicates which model the case fits, in this case being the iPhone 3G. The model name is found on the lower left hand corner.

On the rear side of the package, the model name, brand logo and type of iPhone model are found. The bottom right has picture icons with some of the specific features for each case.

The first model is the Contour Design Flick iPhone 3G, which is the lightest of the three cases, weighing in at 14.2 gms. The Flick iPhone 3G comes in two flavors – black and white.

The color choice is dependent on the color of your iPhone. If you purchased the white iPhone, then I would assume one would get the white Flick iPhone 3G and vice versa. The Flick iPhone 3G is a two-piece polycarbonate slide case joined by a recessed rubber hinge. On the back of the case over this rubber hinge is the Contour logo. The inner portion of the case has two rubberized grips to keep the case securely attached to the iPhone 3G.

Contour Design named this model – Flick, because you basically flick it open and closed.

The Flick iPhone 3G matches the color of the iPhone 3G’s black or white plastic housing, so at quick glance; one will not notice that the iPhone 3G is sitting in a case. Installation requires flicking open the lower door component and sliding the iPhone 3G into place, then snapping the door into position. The sides are open, allowing easy access to the volume buttons and mute switch. On the rear there is the requisite opening for the camera. There is a removable silicone cover for the power switch. The bottom of the unit is fairly open and the iPhone connector can be easily attached. To dock the iPhone, it is necessary to “flick” open the bottom and place the device into the dock. This keeps one from having to take the iPhone 3G out of the case for docking, which is convenient.
