Gadget Review: Single LED Key Ring Torch from GizGeek

I think everyone at one time or another has had some type of little LED light on their keychain, I know I’ve found they come in handy quite often and can have numerous uses. Today for review our friends at GizGeek have sent me over their version of a single LED keychain light and it’s actually well made, bright and very inexpensive.

A Better Look at Things

:

There is no packaging for the Single LED Keychain from GizGeek, it just comes in a plastic bag.

On the top is a fairly large black rubber button that is used as the on/off switch, while on the bottom we find a small door that is secured by a screw that holds the batteries in place. The button does make an audible click when pressed, and as soon as it is released the light goes out.

LED is located, and the entire casing is made from a hard translucent plastic allowing you to see inside. The plastic is actually fairly hard and seems very durable, I did try and squeeze the light as hard as I could and it didn’t even give to the pressure. Now I’m sure if you smacked it with a hammer or such it would break but from normal use I can see it lasting for quite a while just being carried on your keychain or wherever.

As for brightness, well it’s a single LED so you can’t expect too much from it, but it works great as a light to help find things like keyholes in the dark, or anywhere you’ll need a little extra light.

The only complaint I could possibly have is that the actual keychain part is a bit weak and I’d be afraid to loose it, switching the keychain or just using the main ring would solve this problem. Then again for a price of $3 you can’t expect that much out of it…

Summary:

Overall it’s exactly what I expected in a single LED keychain light, it works fine for what it is and it seems like it will last quite a while.

It’s great to carry on your keychain or just leave in your car or toolbox for whenever you need a little extra light to find something.
