Pile and Pop PC Game Review

I love games, all sorts of games, that’s one of the reasons why you see quite a few game reviews here on DSM. The other reason is that I like to support the ‘little guy’, the little software companies out there that actually produce some great games. These games are considered ‘indie’ games, and a lot of them are very much worth the money, they are very playable and actually really cool. So today for review I have Pile and Pop from Bit Bliss Studios, there are lots of in game clips so sit back and enjoy…

-All modes have three difficulty levels to fit both beginners and experienced players.

-Many special bricks and powerups to create amazing combos.

Gameplay, Video Clips etc:

Since this game is available via download there are no cool box shots for you, installation is straightforward, just download and install the game. Pile and Pop was a bit hard to deal with as no matter what I tried I couldn’t get a screen shot of the actual game, but I could get in game clips using FRAPS, so there are eight movies in addition to the few screen shots I could get.

Once you get the game loaded and clip the icon you are greeted with a nice welcome screen where you get to meet Tisylee your guide for the game and a bit of ‘eyecandy’ for you.

There aren’t many options available for Pile and Pop, just some basic ones, Pile and Pop will be playable on most any system.

When you click the ‘New Game’ button, you get to choose from two different styles of gameplay, Arcade and Strategy, also you can choose between three different skill levels.

Pile and Pop is a very fun game actually, it’s great to just waste some time with. There are quite a few different types of special power ups as you saw in the videos that make things a bit more interesting.

My wife was watching as I was writing this review, I was going back over the game clips and she said it reminds her of Dr. Mario, the old Nintendo game. I couldn’t really say as I never played it, but I did some searching and found it around online and it does have a slight resemblance to it..

Overall I found Pile and Pop fun, it is very easy to learn and play. The additional power ups are rather cool, and they do add to the game, without them it would get boring fast. Gameplay is great, the interface responds quickly which makes playing a lot better. The game size is actually 640×480 resolution but you can select fullscreen, it would have been nice had the game be able to take full advantage of higher resolutions. I use 1280×1024 all the time and running Pile and Pop at full screen did make it a bit fuzzy, but it didn’t take away from the overall feel of the game.

Summary:

In closing I found Pile and Pop to be an excellent diversion, it is very easy to learn and play. It is also something that everyone in the family can enjoy. The only drawback I found was the lack of higher resolutions, but that can be forgiven because the game is lots of fun.

DragonSteelMods gives Pile and Pop a 5 out of 5 score.
