Review: 7-in-1 USB Travel Easy Bag from USBFever

All sorts of products imaginable use USB connections to relay data to and from the device, this usually means quite a few assorted USB cables floating around just waiting to be lost… I know I’ve got many USB cables around here for all sorts of devices I have and it’s a real pain sometimes trying to find the one I need. There are many solutions to this problem, but the easiest is to get a kit with interchangeable adapters so essentially you only have one cable for all of your devices.

The kit I have today from USBFever can do just that and a bit more as well, it’s a 7-in-1 Travel Kit, and it not only features the most popular USB connections but has a two firewire adapters as well to go from a firewire enabled device to a standard USB connection. I love these types of products because I always find that they are very useful for many, many things…

A Better Look at Things

:

The name of this product is a bit misleading, it mentions a ‘bag’ in the name, but there is no travel bag. The package for the 7-in-1 USB Travel Easy Bag from USBFever is the easy open type, it’s just a cardboard backing that slides in to the tabs attached to the plastic front cover. Through that cover we can plainly see all the contents, and the back has ideas for uses and a brief instruction diagram to use the retractable cable.

As the specs mentioned, included with this kit is six USB adapters and a retractable cable.

The retractable cable that is included is not on my list of favorite and useful things, honestly I hate these types of cables, they never seem to work right and they always seem to retract when you don’t want them to. That being said, it’s a nice long cable anyway, and it does the job in a pinch, being retractable makes it very portable.

The adapters themselves are the main selling point of this kit, for the price of this kit the adapters alone are well worth it.

– USB AM – 1394 4P Adapter x 1

– USB AM – Mini 5P Adapter x 1

– USB AM – USB BM Adapter x 1

– USB AM – Mini 4P Adapter x 1

– USB AM – USB AM Adapter x 1

There really isn’t a section in this review for testing, although I have used a few of them and they work great, they do exactly what you need them to do.

It just so happened that I misplaced the cable for my digital camera at the time I got these for review, so I got to use one of the connectors for a few days until the cable appeared again magically.

Summary:

Despite the goofy cable that comes with this kit it’s a great product overall. It’s really the adapters that are the main selling point for this kit, I know I wouldn’t be buying this kit specifically for the cable.

The adapters are very useful and offer a great many solutions to some common problems that come up from time to time, it’s nice to have these lying around just in case you ever need one.

DragonSteelMods gives the 7-in-1 USB Travel Easy Bag from USBFever a 4.5 out of 5 score.

Pros:

-Lots of uses

-Durable connectors

-Portable

-Inexpensive

Cons:

-Cable is thin, and just not the best for the job (or any job)

I would like to thank USBFever for the chance to review the 7-in-1 USB Travel Easy Bag from and for their continued support of DSM.
