The prices on digital cameras have dropped drastically over the years and while they’re very nice to have there’s not much you can do with a digital picture once you take it. Sure you can transfer it to your computer and look at it, or even upload it to share, but there’s just something nice about having a picture in your hand that’s on paper to show, share and give away. Yes, you can have them printed for you or you can invest in a digital photo printer to print your own pictures but the cost of ink these days is ridiculous, and of course the cost of quality photo paper is outrageous as well. When you combine the costs of a good quality photo printer, the special photo ink and high quality paper is it even worth it to print your own pictures?
Today for review I’ve got a quick and easy way to take your digital photos with you to share with friends and family, it’s a Digital Photo Keychain from Wholesale Keychains . It’s got a 1.5 inch display that has a 128×128 pixel resolution and it can hold up to 43 pictures and even includes software built into it to transfer and crop your pictures easily.
It can make a great gift, or even a nice give away for a company to show off their products and for a few dollars more they’ll even engrave it for you to make it more personal.

A Better Look at Things
:
the Silver 1.5 Inch Digital Photo Keychain comes in a basic box, you can see the keychain through the window on the front and there’s a list of features on both front and back. It does have a CD listed of being included in the contents but there isn’t one as the software is built into the keychain itself.
Unpacking it we find a brief user manual, the Digital Photo Frame, keychain and a standard mini-USB cable.
The front of the photo frame is mostly taken up by the 1.5 inch display, there’s no identifying marks or anything on the front.
On the right side is the mini-USB connection to connect to your computer to transfer pictures and charge the battery.
On the back we find our logo, they were nice enough to create a sticker with DragonSteelMods logo on it for me as it was too big to be engraved onto the back, we also see the Wholesale Keychains logo as well. Under that is the controls and a tiny hole to reset the keychain if need be. There are three buttons for controls, ‘Up’, ‘Menu’ and ‘Down’, the Menu buttons is also the power on and off button as well. The buttons are used for navigating menus and selecting pictures.

Installation, Testing and Comparison
The only real installation of this product is ‘installing’ the pictures onto it, and that’s easily done with the included software. What’s really interesting is that the software is actually built into the keychain itself so you won’t need to install anything on your computer. Once you plug it into your computer with the UBS cable the software runs and opens automatically for you.
You can use any size picture but it will be automatically cropped and resized to fit the keychain, when you open a picture to add to the photo frame you’ll see a gray outlined box over it, you can move this box over your picture to choose which part you want to crop and be shown on your keychain. It’s very easy to do, when you’re done cropping a picture just hit add button and it will be added to the pictures on the right side, then when you are all finished just hit Download and they’ll be transferred to the keychain for you. Very, very simple to do, there is options to rotate pictures as well, but it’s very basic with no real photo management or manipulation knowledge is needed.
Here’s a few samples of the pictures that I added to the Digital Photo Keychain, the pictures are not the best quality when on the keychain but it’s not hi-res, it’s only 128×128 pixels at 1.5inch square.
You can manually select the pictures with the buttons on the back or you can let the slide show play, in the options you can set the time limit between photo changes as well. The slide show is animated as well, with different types of pixellation between the pictures, kinda like fading in and out.
For only $20 it’s not a bad little product for someone who likes to carry photos with them, since most people have a digital camera and don’t print out photos this is an easy way to take your photos with you to share with friends and family.
The quality of the pictures shown isn’t the greatest, though I wouldn’t expect it to be since it’s a low resolution and low priced gadget, but it is fine for what it does. My wife, my friends and my kids think it’s just fine the way it is, they like the pictures a lot, I’m of course accustomed to higher quality things and might be a bit more critical of it than it deserves really…
Through Wholesale Keychain you can get it engraved as well so you can personalize it to give away as a gift or even use it for your business. It would make a great gift for any holiday or special occasion, I’m sure people would be happy to get one of these filled with family pictures to easily carry around with them.

Summary:
The Silver 1.5 inch Digital Photo Keychain is a really cool little gadget that is well worth the $20 you’ll spend on it; I’ve seen others priced similar, some lower and of course some higher, but the one thing that they required was separate software from a CD, this one is just really plug and play. You won’t need to install any software and anyone can handle the photo manipulation and transfer process.
This little product can make a great gift, and the optional engraving is inexpensive and will make the Digital Photo Keychain even that more special to the person you give it to.
Overall it’s a great little product that I think is well worth the price…
