Tom Bihn Organizer Pouches

A few days ago I took a look at the Tom Bihn ID Messenger bag and the Brain Cell hard sided laptop case, today I have an optional product that compliments any Tom Bihn bag. (Actually it is three products, and in reality they can be used with any bag you own, or even without.) The products I have for review today are the Tom Bihn Organizer Pouches, they are very well made, and a cool thing about them is that they are made from the ‘scrap’ material left over from the manufacture of their main product line of bags. I have two of the cloth types, a medium and small size, and one that is very interesting, it is made from cork. They might be made from the ‘scraps’ but they are the same high quality that Tom Bihn is known for.

RealCorkFabric: Cork Small Organizer Pouch

Price: $15.00

Decription:

The Cork Small Organizer Pouch is made out of real cork fabric on the front side, and 1000 denier Cordura fabric on the back side. Noted for its distinctive and unique (no Cork Small Organizer Pouch looks exactly alike due to variations in the wood) wood patterns, cork is also known for the sustainability of its production. Oak woodlands in Spain and Portugal, known as dehesas or montados, have been used to produce cork and graze livestock for hundreds of years, making them a haven for wild birds. Plus, it just looks really cool.

The Cork Small Organizer Pouch will add an extra pocket of organization to any bag. It’s also great for storing small electronics, and fits the Nintendo DS Lite perfectly. We’ve made sure the Cork Small Organizer Pouch has a #5 YKK coil zipper with a plastic slider so that it’s less likely to damage sensitive electronic gizmos.

Using a small-but-tough plastic snaphook, the Small Cork Organizer Pouch can attach to the "D" rings for a key snap that are inside the Buzzsling bag, Smart Alec backpack, Imago messenger bag, ID messenger bag, LUX tote, Empire Builder briefcase, Ego messenger bag, Super Ego messenger bag, Utility Tote bag, Aeronaut maximum carry-on bag and Cafe shoulder bags.

If you have some other bag, that’s ok just don’t use the little plastic snaphook on the pouches or break it off.

A Better Look at Things

:

The Tom Bihn Organizer pouches I have today are the two standard pouches, medium is Deep Blue color, small is Wasabi in color and the Cork Organizer pouch.

Tom Bihn was kind enough to also send me a couple of their very stylish stickers as well, they have the Tom Bihn logo on them and you can stick them wherever you wish to show people that you know quality…

The medium size bag, Deep Blue in color, is basically a pouch with a zipper on it, made from the same quality materials all Tom Bihn bags are made from.

All of the Organizer pouches have a sturdy clip, and heavy duty zipper along with a Tom Bihn logo tag in the bottom right corner.

A Better Look at Things

Continued:

The second Organizer pouch or bag from Tom Bihn is the small size and is the Wasabi color.

The Wasabi colored small pouch also features the same quality material, snap hook and zipper.

The last pouch only comes in one size, and that is small, why it only comes in small, I’m not quite sure, but it is the coolest of the three pouches I have today, at least I think it is… This Organizer pouch is made from cork, making it a bit more expensive than the other organizer pouches but worth it really. Since this pouch is made of cork it offers a bit more padding for more delicate things like Ipods, cellphones etc.

Of course the Cork Organizer Pouch also has the quality zipper and the snap hook as well, and a small Tom Bihn logo tag in the corner

Installation, Testing and Comparison

Installation for the Tom Bihn Organizer Pouches is pretty easy, stuff them with whatever you wish. As for testing I’m really not quite sure how one goes about testing a pouch besides stuffing with as much as you can and seeing if the seams burst… Anyway here are the three pouches stuffed with some of my stuff..

In the Cork pouch I put my GPS equipment as I wanted it to be a little more protected from things and not be sliding around a lot in the the ID Messenger bag that I have. The equipment is made well, but it’s better to be safe than sorry…

The small Wasabi colored organizer pouch I found was the perfect size for a few cables that I had loosely thrown in my bag.

The deep blue colored medium sized organizer pouch I found is the perfect fit for a DVD case and a few other things. I also figured that everyone knew how big a standard DVD case was, so people should get a good idea of just how big the medium sized case is. You can actually fit two DVD cases in there with no problem and a couple CDs as well. And if you are wondering what DVD it is, it is ‘The Hunger’, a great vampire movie, with David Bowie actually..

Here’s a couple pics of the Cork pouch clipped inside my Tom Bihn ID Messenger Bag:

What’s really nice about these pouches is that they add more room in the bag, but with the snap hook they are still a part of the bag itself and you don’t have to worry about the pouch falling out.

And lastly here is the small Wasabi colored bag clipped into my ID bag as well:

These work very well with the Tom Bihn brand of bags, but of course they can work with any bag or even just be used by themselves.

As for the comparison part of this review, well there really is no comparison I could find for the excellent quality and usefulness of these pouches.

Summary:

As I found in my review of the Tom Bihn ID Messenger Bag, their products are excellent quality and very well made with care and thought the Organizer Pouches are no different in that respect. If you own a Tom Bihn bag you owe it to yourself to get a couple of these pouches as they really do add to the usefulness of it, and even if you don’t have a Tom Bihn bag these pouches are very cool and useful.

DragonSteelMods gives the Tom Bihn Organizer Pouches a 5 out of 5 score and our Recommended Award as well.

Pros:

-Very well made

-Tough and durable

-Strong zippers

-Snap hook clip

-Assorted colors

Cons:

-None

I would like to thank Tom Bihn for the chance to review the Organizer Pouches and for their continued support of DSM.
