Vizo Ninja HS Notebook Cooler

Vizo Ninja HS Notebook Cooler

No matter what laptop you’ve got it
generates heat, it happens because the heat generating components
inside are packed so closely together, and as we all know, some
laptops get hotter than others.

Today I’m taking a look at the Ninja HS
Notebook Cooler from Vizo, it’s a very different sort of laptop
cooler than I have ever seen. It features adjustable fans that can
move from side to side and the entire fan assembly can move forward
and backward as well so you can pinpoint cool the hot spot on your
laptop. Does it work? Let’s find out…

A
Better Look at Things:

The Ninja HS comes in a nice
little box with a handle on it, the box has pictures and of course
the specs and features listed as well. Opening the box we find the
Ninja HS is actually in pieces and will need to be put together
before use, included are the main parts for the cooler, thumbscrews,
USB cable and instruction sheet.

The Ninja HS is made of metal so
it’s nice and sturdy, the legs have numbered marks on the to help you
adjust it correctly for your laptop. There are also small wheel on
the back of the legs as well so you can easily slide the unit with
your laptop on it.

The fans are installed on a bar
that connects to both legs, on one end of the version I received for
review are three standard USB ports for anything you need to plug in
and a mini-USB port that is used to power the fans, there’s also a
connection for an external power supply as well.

You do have to assemble the Ninja
HS, but it’s easy to do, just four thumbscrews and you’re done.

Testing:

I’ve got an older Dell Latitude
C640 that has served me well over the years, so that’s what I using
for testing. According to the instruction your’ supposed to feel for
the hot spot on the bottom of your laptop and position the fans to
blow directly on that spot. I did that, it’s easy to do, just adjust
a few screws and move things around a bit and you’re all set.

For testing I ran Orthos Stress
Prime to get load on the CPU for an 30 minutes, then let the system
sit for 30 minutes and ran it again, I did this 5 times and averaged
out the temperature results. To get the Idle temperatures I just
turned the laptop on running windows processes, and I also surfed
around the internet and checked my email, I did this for 30 minutes
at a time as well and averaged out the temperatures.

Ambient room temperature during
testing was 22.1C.

Without the Ninja HS:

Idle: 36.5C

Load: 70.5C

With the Ninja HS:

Idle: 33.5C

Load: 67.5C

We’ve got an average of a three
degree drop in temperatures while using the Vizo Ninja HS, not
wonderful, but it does what it’s supposed to do, that is to cool your
laptop.

Typing while the computer is on
the Ninja HS works well, but you’ve got to get accustomed to the
angle if you’re not using anything of this sort, it actually works
well as a nice laptop stand.

Of course the addition of the
extra USB ports is nice as well, especially if you have a laptop like
mine where you’ve only got one to begin with.

The fans are silent, I actually
had to take my laptop off the Ninja HS to make sure they were on,
they are literally silent when running.

Summary
and Comments:

The Vizo Ninja HS does it’s job,
even three degrees cooler is better than three degrees hotter. Other
people will have different experiences with this cooler as not all
laptops are the same.

The Ninja HS is made very well,
and it seems sturdy, you can break it down if need be for storage and
transport as well.

DragonSteelMods gives the Vizo
Ninja HS a 4.5 out of 5 score.

Pros:

-Cools you laptop

-Silent fans

-Well made

-Easy to use

-This version adds USB ports

-Portable

Cons:

-No on/off switch for fans that I
could find

I
would like to thank
Vizo for the chance to review the Ninja
HS
and for their continued support of DSM.
