Antec Sound Science rockus 3D Speaker System Review

For today’s
review we will be checking out the latest PC case err, speaker system
from Antec.   Did I just type speaker
system???  Antec, a company known for
their PC cases, enclosures and other peripherals have entered into the PC
speaker market and today we will look at their first product – the rockus
3D.

Antec created
the soundscience subsidiary to distinguish these products from their widely
known business model of PC cases and power supplies. Their first audio product from
the soundscience brand is the 3D which is a 2.1 system
designed to create a virtual 3D sound stage.  Introduced at the $249 price point they seem to be going after the
higher end 2.1 speaker systems especially designed for PC use.

Hercules XPS 2.1 40 Slim Speakers Review

Hercules XPS 2.1 40 Slim Speakers Review

Up on the review block today I’ve got a
rather inexpensive set of speakers from Hercules called the XPS 2.1
40 Slim. The name comes from the fact that they’re 2.1 of course, 2
speakers and a sub woofer, but also because the satellite speakers
are thin and they should fit on most any desk or any other place
where space is limited. The cost is about $40, and for that price
they are well worth it I think, the sound is very good especially
considering the price. Included is an in-line remote for volume
control, but it also has a headphone jack on it and an input jack as
well so you can hook up an MP3 player or whatever and use the
speakers for sound from that device. So read on to learn more..

Trust SoundForce USB Powered Portable Speakers Reviewed

Most products out there aren’t perfect,
far from it, but many have redeeming qualities that will make up for
a lot of bad things about them. Every once in a while though I’ll get
a product that is just downright bad and doesn’t even come close to
doing what it’s supposed to do. Our ratings system here is a bit
different than other sites, even if a product gets a perfect 5 out of
5, that doesn’t mean it’s perfect and flawless with no issues, it
just means that it does what it’s advertised to do and/or exceeds the
expectations of the product. It’s one that is worth buying as it
performs as it should and it’s a quality product.

Today I’ve got a quick review for you
of a product that I could only describe as horrible. Our friends over
at GearZap have sent me over a pair of portable speakers for review
and I’m guessing they’re regretting it now. These speakers are USB
powered and meant to be used with your laptop or netbook and they
sound terrible, just full of static and crackling sounds. With one of
my netbooks when I plug them in my netbook turns off! It’s not the
netbook, I’ve used other portable speakers and many other devices
with it with no issues, it’s the speakers themselves that have a
problem somewhere. So read on if you want to, but you don’t have to
as it’s not even worth the read!

XMI X-mini II Mini Speaker

Today I’ve got a unique little product
for review called the XMI X-Mini II Mini Speaker, and it’s exactly
what it sounds like, a mini speaker. Sure there are many of these
types of products out there and I’ve tried a few of them myself, but
this one is the best of the bunch really. It’s small, portable and
has excellent sound. One of the best features I think is that it uses
a built-in rechargeable high capacity battery that gives you about 11
hours play time and charges from any USB port.

Sonos Bundle 130 Digital Music System Reviewed

Sonos Bundle 130 Digital Music System Reviewed

For the sake of full disclosure, I admit that I am a huge SlimDevices (now owned by Logitech) Squeezebox fan, I have owned a Squeezebox2 for the past three years and have used it almost daily during that time. It is a great device, but it does have some drawbacks, particularly, the Squeezebox requires setting up Squeezecenter (aka SlimServer) on a machine to get your personal music library to stream to the device. Setting up this server can take a fair amount of time when tweaking its settings and plugins

Sonos has come up with a similar system to manage your digital music system. The main difference between the two products is the presentation and the ease of set up. The Sonos is a plug and play system with a beautiful remote control. They have released the Sonos Bundle 130 which includes a Sonos ZonoPlayer 80 (ZP80), a Sonos Zoneplayer 100 (ZP100) and a Sonos Controller (CR100). Using these devices will provide instant access to your entire digital music collection, along with millions of songs from music services and online radio. It takes literally ten minutes to get this setup up and running, it is basically an idiot proof setup.

Plus, the Sonos system is infinitely expandable, by creating a wireless mesh network (aka SonosNet), you can expand your music listening capabilities all over your residence. Just add a Zoneplayer to the area you want to have music and you are all set.

Brando WorkShop carries my favorite types of things, gadgets of all shapes sizes and styles. Today for review I have one of their products called the Happy Fish Speaker, it is a speaker obviously, but it is in the shape of a fish and has cool lighting effects as well. This product actually surprised me a bit in that it really sounds good, I was not expecting a novelty product like this to sound as good as it does…

USB Little Mice Speakers Review

August 26, 2006

Let’s face it, most laptop speakers just aren’t any good, unless you buy a super high end laptop, you are stuck with some pretty bad sound coming from your computer. This can be a bad experience for someone who wants to watch a movie or listen to music on their laptop, it’s actually pretty bad just listening to the sounds from Windows. You can’t replace the speakers but you can get an external set to make things more enjoyable. There are many choices out there when buying a set of external speakers for your laptop, so why not choose some that are a little fun and add a little personality to you computer! Today for review I have the USB ‘Little Mice’ speakers from Brando WorkShop and they not only look interesting but they are pretty good as well.
