Cellphones are extremely popular as we all know, pretty much everyone has one kind or another. Quite a few cellphones, use the SIM card system, something that I like very much personally. I like being able to just pop my SIM card into another phone and off I go. I have a PDA type phone and I also have a couple 'cheapie' phones that I use when I know I'll be doing something that could damage my SmartPhone. I just pop my SIM card into the other phone and away I go with another phone. Usually your contacts are stored on the SIM card and can't be accessed unless you bought the optional, expensive data cable.
