Holster Clip for AT&T Tilt/TyTn II/8925 from Boxwave

Boxwave Holster Clip

Following my review of the ATT Tilt I've got numerous accessories coming up for review as well. Our friends at Boxwave hooked me up with a nice 'care package' of great products for my Tilt.

First of the accessory reviews for the Tilt is a Holster Clip, it's basically a plastic enclosure that clips to your belt and allows easy access to your phone while still holding it secure. In my time with this product I found it to be outstanding in quality, durability and usability.

So read on to check it out and learn my impressions of it…

A Better Look at Things

:

The Holster Clip comes in a clear plastic box that opens very easily, nothing special, no writing or anything on the box.

The Holster Clip is black in color, and feels very well made and sturdy.

The actual clip on the back has a very strong spring on it, which is nice to see as you won't have to worry about it falling off. The clip also swivels, but it locks into place at various angles, seven of them actually. So if you wanted to you can wear your phone in horizontal or vertical position or somewhere in between. The only identifying mark is on the back where it says 'HTC-8925'.

The phone rests in the bottom of the Holster but is held in place by another clip on the top, it has a nice large tab on it making it easy for you to un-clip your phone with one hand. The top clip is just as sturdy as the rest of this product and holds your phone tightly in place.

I got two phone carriers from Boxwave actually, so I decided to use both for one week each to see how they worked. Honestly I was a bit leery about using the clip holster, after all this phone is my 'baby' and I don't want anything happening to it, I pride myself in the fact that I take care of my stuff, and considering the Tilt is fairly new and expensive I didn't want anything happening to it.

So the first couple days I kept feeling my phone to make sure it was still there, but after the first couple of days I was confident it wasn't going anywhere so I just went about my business and forgot it was in the holster. The Tilt never fell out of the holster at all, so that there makes me a happy boy!

I really like the fact that the swivel belt clip locks into place and does not move freely, you can swivel the clip and wear your phone horizontally, vertically or even at an angle if you wish to and it won't move.

If I wanted to be picky about this product I could say that it doesn't offer much real protection for your phone, but it's not supposed to really, and it's not meant to. It's meant to hold your phone in place for easy access, it's designed like many other clip-style holders out there today. Since your phone faces your waist the screen is protected though which is the most important part anyway, and of course I do have a Boxwave screen protector on it as well.

Some people might not like the belt clip and would prefer a loop style attachment, but I personally prefer the clip over the loop style as it's much easier to take off. I don't want to have to undo my belt to take my phone off, and if I don't wear a belt it can then clip to my pocket or waistband. I also like the clip styles because I can take it off my belt while I'm in the car, I like to clip my phone to the visor, it's much easier to get to than having to stick my hand down under the seat belt to get at my phone while driving.

Honestly though I try not to talk while driving, I hate it, there's enough morons on the road that I have to watch out for without being distracted by a phone. Usually I answer the phone and say I'm driving I'll call you back later, and that usually solves the problem, those who know me know that I don't like to talk while driving so they understand…

One of the things I do everyday is pick my children up from school, and of course other parents are there as well, and they've all got cellphones. There are two children there who's parents also pick them up, sometimes it's the mother and sometimes it's the father, the father wears a suit etc, don't know what he does but it seems he thinks he's important. So one day the father comes to pick the kids up, well he has an iPhone in a clip style holster, he was talking on the phone when I walked up and he just finished, stuck his iPhone in the clip and it popped right back out, bounced on the concrete and slid a bit, of course he scrambled to get it, picked it up, stared at it and looked around like 'did anybody see that?' he looked sort of embarrassed and sort of pissed off at the same time. The point is that it wasn't the style like I have for review today from Boxwave, he had to use two hands to get the phone back in the clip, and obviously the clip he had didn't do what it was supposed to do… you get what you pay for I guess..

Summary:

I'm happy to say that my Tilt never fell out of the holster, it seems to hold it very tight and snug, it's not going to go anywhere while it's in the holster. I like this product quite a bit, and most likely it will become a permanent attachment to my hip.
