Krusell Orbit with Multidapt / Swivelkit and CarHoldickit

Krusell Orbit with Multidapt / Swivelkit and CarHoldickit

So, when you get a nice phone, such as the Tilt that I have, the first thing you do is get a screen protector, the second thing to do is get a good quality case for that phone. When you go searching for a case for your phone you're going to find numerous choices, so many choices that it really can get confusing at times. In the end though you should choose a case on only a few main qualities like how well it protects your phone, the quality of these case, functionality and of course how it looks. In the end though you really won't know if any case suits your needs until you get it and use it for a while.

The case I've got for review today is the Orbit with Multidapt from our friends at Krusell , and I'll be honest, when I first got this case I didn't like it, but first impressions aren't always the best judge of a product like this. I've used this case everyday for the last three plus weeks and I've grown to love it, it offers excellent protection for my phone, accessibility to all of the functions and buttons, it's very well made, and it looks great. It's all of the things that you should look for in a case for your phone and then some.

Krusell also sent me their CarHoldickit as well to go with it, the CarHoldickit is part of their Multidapt system of holders where you can take the phone from your belt, the clip stays on your belt, and you can attach your phone elsewhere like your car dashboard as with the CarHoldickit. The Multidapt system offers many other types of clips as well, and depending on your lifestyle you can choose on or more that best fits your needs.

As I said in the beginning I didn't like this case, but now after using it I really do like it very much for everything it has to offer…

A Better Look at Things

:

The Krusell Orbit comes in a very stylish package that folds open to reveal the case itself. The front has a picture of the case with compatibility information, the back has a little bit about Krusell.

Before we get more into the case itself, here's the CarHoldicKit, it comes in a small box. Inside the box we find the product itself, instructions for installation and a 'knob' attachment for the Multidapt system if needed with your case. The CarHoldicKit can be attached with adhesive tape or the included screw for a more permanent mounting system.

Now, here's the Obit case itself, it's black leather with a metal Krusell logo badge on the front flap.

orbit14 orbit15

On the back we find part of the Multidapt system attached, this clip can be used with any clips in the Krusell Multidapt system. On the back you can also see a small square of screen, this is directly above the speaker of the phone to allow sound to get out. The Orbit is very well made, there is tight stitching all around with double stitching at the stress points so it should last quite a while.

The main front flap is held closed by what appears to be a button, but it's really a combination button and magnet so it really stays tightly closed.

orbit21 orbit22

Opening the flap I found the instruction for using the Orbit tucked inside, the main flap also has three pockets, two for memory cards and one for credit cards, ID, money, or whatever you wish to stick in there.

orbit23 orbit24

orbit25

The top flap also has a second part that is secured with a small magnet as well, when this flap is opened it allows access to the camera so you can take pictures. At first I didn't care for this, but I do like it now as it protects the camera from any possible damage.

orbit26 orbit27

Inside the front along with the instructions is the SwivelKit Multidapt belt clip, it comes in two parts, one that clips to the phone and the actual clip that goes on your belt. You can clip it to your belt and release the phone with a touch a the button while the clip will remain on your belt.

The inside of the phone is lined with as very soft material to protect your phone from scratches and shocks, the sides of the case are stiff offering protection and stability. There is a clear section as well to the bottom of the case that actually slips over the keyboard to hold the phone in the case and protect the keyboard as well.

{mospagebreak title=Installation and Usage}

Installation and Usage:

Getting your phone into the Orbit case can be a challenge as it is very tight, you need to open the phone up as if you are using the keyboard and actually slide the keyboard under the clear plastic covering. The covering not only helps hold the phone in place but also protects the keyboard fully.

orbit35 orbit36

orbit37

Once your phone is in the case you can snap the top cover closed to fully secure your phone in place, to use the keyboard of course you'll need to unsnap the cover and let it hang there.

orbit38 orbit39

Then you can fully close the case with the cover flap also, your phone will be very well protected when it's inside of the Krusell Orbit case. You'll still have access to all of the buttons and the stylus while it's in the case.

orbit40 orbit41

On the back is where you'll find the Multidapt clip system, you just clip the clip into the holder and you're ready to go. The Orbit also has a secondary flap that is connected to the main cover, it's held in place with a small magnet, and when this second flap is opened it allows access to the camera. Yes there is no access for the external GPS connection of the Tilt, but to me that's not a big deal, but still something one might want to consider about this case.

orbit42 orbit43

The SwivelKit Multidapt came with the Orbit, it's basically your standard swiveling belt clip. It does add quite a bit of thickness overall tot he phone, but when it attached to your belt you won't notice it at all.

orbit44 orbit45

orbit46

I already showed you that under the main flap are three pockets, but here it is again with stuff in them, since the pockets are fairly large I stuck my microSD cards inside their SD adapters to make them fit better. The back pocket can be used for credit card, drivers license etc, I figure if you're going out and want to travel light you can toss your credit card and ID in there and off you go, no need to carry a wallet or purse if you don't have to. Most people take their phones with them everywhere, with the Orbit case that's all you'll need to go out for the night.

orbit47 orbit48

The CarHoldicKit can be attached in your car or boat or whatever, wherever you wish, it can be installed with the included tape or screw for a more permanent type of mounting. I attached mine to the top of the console where I can mount the phone and still be able to view and use the GPS system in the phone. It works well, and every time I get in the car I un-clip it from my belt and clip it to the CarHoldicKit mount. The nice thing about the system is that the belt clip stays on your belt so you can easily go from one type of clip to the other with the push of a button.

I've already said that I love this case, originally I didn't like it at all, it just seemed too big and bulky to me and I didn't like the idea of the flap hanging there while I was talking on the phone, but after using it for over three weeks now I've grown accustomed to it and truly like the Orbit case from Krusell.

The Orbit truly protects your phone, your investment, most people spend quite a bit of money on their phones and don't want anything to happen to them. If you drop your phone while it's in the Orbit case, chances are that nothing will happen to the phone at all. The case allows full access to all buttons and the stylus, you can sync and charge the phone with no problems as well. I'm very happy with this case and it has become the permanent home of my Tilt, I know my phone will be safe in this case.

In my time with it I've only run into a few minor problems with the Orbit, the front covering over the screen can sometimes get in the way of finger presses, using the stylus all of the time though eliminates that problem.

The other problem I've noticed is that the memory card pockets have sort of become loose and the cards now slide easily in and out, I haven't lost a card yet though so I may be worrying for nothing but it's an observation nonetheless.

The other problem, which really isn't a problem to me, is that it's fairly difficult to get your phone into and out of the case, you do have to apply quite a bit of pressure to get the phone in there, and sort of twist and pull to get it out. Those who aren't careful can easily break their phones. I personally don't see this as a real problem though as the phone is very secure in the Orbit case since it's so tight, and I don't foresee having to take the phone in and out for any reason, once it's in the case there's not really any reason to take it back out.

Summary:

The Krusell Orbit with Multidapt is a very nice case, in fact one of the nicest cases I've seen yet, it's very well made and offers excellent protection for your phone.

The Multidapt system is very useful, I use it all the time now, I really like the idea that I can leave the clip on my belt and mount it in my car to be able to utilize the phone and it's features like the GPS.

The main thing about this case is that I feel my phone is safe and secure while I'm using it and that's what counts.

DragonSteelMods gives the Krusell Orbit with Multidapt a 4.5 out of 5 score and our Editor's Choice Award as well.
