Raptor-Gaming P4-Cloth Mousepad

A few days ago I took a look at the Raptor-Gaming P5 Hard Surface Mousepad, and I found it to be a very capable and well made mousepad. Today I have the Raptor-Gaming P4 Cloth Surface Mousepad for review, which is an exceptional option for those that might prefer cloth mousepads, like myself. The P4 is larger than it’s hard surface counterpart the P5, allowing for a larger gaming surface, being cloth it does offer more friction and thus more control over your mouse, but yet the mouse still glides nicely over the P4…

Raptor-Gaming P4-Cloth Mousepad

Superior Pro-Gamer Mousepad for Low-Sense Gamers

The RAPTOR-GAMING P4 consists of a flexible foam plastic mat. Its surface is large as compared to the other RAPTOR-GAMING mousepads.

This mousepad has been developed especially for gamers with extremely low sense. The surface is covered by especially coated black high-quality textile material. The RAPTOR-GAMING P4 is suited for the general use of optical and ball mice. The thickness of only 2mm avoids early fatigue of the wrist and therefore, is ideal for extensive deathmatches. A Better Look at Things

:

The Raptor-Gaming P4 Cloth Mousepad comes wrapped in cellophane and has a cardboard backing for protection during shipping.

The back of the package lists all the specs and features and has more pics to browse.

Unwrapping it we can get a better look at the P4, it is much larger than the P5, and has similar markings.

In the bottom left corner we can see the Raptor-Gaming name and in the center near the top we find the ‘Raptor Eye’ the logo of Raptor-Gaming.

Being a cloth mousepad the Raptor P4 is very flexible, and can be easily transported anywhere you wish. The bottom of the pad features a rubber backing that helps to keep it from sliding around while you are using it.

Personally I like cloth mousepads much better than hard surface, there are some hard surface pads that I do like and will use for a while, but in the end I always come back to using a cloth pad. I like how thin they are, they cause no strain on your wrists, and they offer more control over your mouse. I also like the fact that they are silent, no matter what hard surface pad you use you will still hear the mouse sliding over it, but not with a good cloth pad, it’s silent. I could say that about any cloth pad, but for me it has to be a good cloth pad, and they are not all created equal, you can really tell the difference between a cheap cloth pad and a good cloth pad. That being said, I can say that the P4 is a very good cloth mousepad, I’ve been using it for over a week now and am very happy with it.

Installation, Testing and Comparison

As with most any mousepad the installation process is easy and painless, the only requirement is space and with the P4 that should not be a problem for most people. The P4 is larger than the average mousepad, yes, but it is still small by most standards, so it should fit most anywhere, dare I say it is the perfect size?

Here’s a quick picture to give you a better idea of the size of the Raptor-Gaming P4 Mousepad, in the picture is my Logitech MX1000 mouse on the P4.

You can see it is a bit larger than other pads, but still on the small side overall. During my time using the P4 I never once ‘fell’ off the edge, it seems to be the perfect sized space to mouse on. I really like the size of the P4, not to small, not to big, just right for me (said Goldilocks…), of course though everyones’ preferences are different and what I like you may not, so it is up to you to decide, I only give my observations and opinions.

Anyway, with all mousepad reviews that entails getting some gaming in, and it just so happened I am also in the process of benching my 7900GTs in SLI mode, for a motherboard review/comparison, so I got to do quite a bit of gaming on the P4. So it worked out very well for the P4 that it was happening this way, and I couldn’t be happier with the P4s’ performance.

I not only used my MX1000 with the Raptor-Gaming P4 Mousepad, but also the Raptor-Gaming M3 Mouse, and a couple other mice I have floating around including an old school ball mouse. All of them performed flawlessly on the P4, tracking was perfect in any resolution I picked for the M3.

The P4 is an exceptional cloth mousepad, it is very thin, and actually smooth, with just enough texture to allow more control over your mouse when you need it most.

For my setup I’ve grown fond of using a deskpad sized mousepad, I have two actually the Corepad Deskpad and the Xtrac Ripper XXL which I alternate between while one is being washed, I like the padding under my keyboard and arms while working. I put the Raptor-Gaming P4, or any other mousepad, right on top of it and away I go, it’s a great combination. Using the Raptor-Gaming P4 and the Corepad Deskpad together I can easily switch between the pads to see if there is any difference for a quick comparison and there is actually, I’ve found that the Raptor P4 is much smoother, and offers less ‘drag’ on the mouse than the Corepad does.

At the end of the day I am happy, I’ve found a new mousepad that just could possibly be perfect for me.
