A Better Look at Things

The USB Radio from Brando comes in our favorite plastic clamshell packaging but this is the easy open kind. The USB Radio looks pretty big in the packaging, but what you see is actually the carrying case for the radio, it is made to protect the antenna.

On the back of the package we find the same sped and features as listed above.

Finally opening the package we find the USB Radio itself, and a mini CD that contains the software to use the Radio.

As I mentioned the USB Radio does look a lot bigger than it actually is, what you see in the following picture is actually the carrying case for the radio itself, it is made of very thick plastic and encased in rubber. On the front is the product name USB Radio, and on the back is the actual maker of the USB Radio, Datacoach Communications.

With a gentle tug on the handle of the USB Radio it comes free of its’ casing, and we get to see the actual USB connection and the telescopic antenna, the antenna would be the main reason for hard carrying case. The Radio itself is also made of hard plastic and is also encased in rubber.

My first impression of the USB Radio were that it was a cool little device that I hoped would work great. I’ve found that most add-on radio’s for PC’s are not that great, the reception is usually very bad with them. We shall see in the next section how well the USB Radio performs.

I really like the idea of the rubber coating on the casing, it not only prevents it from slipping from your hands, a better grip, but it also cushions it from impact as well, I did drop it and it bounced.
