Unboxing
The iPod Retractable Dock to Audio Stereo Cable arrives in a clear plastic package. The device is centered on a green and white cardboard.
The back of the package lists the features and shows how to retract the cord.
The iPod Retractable Dock to Audio Stereo Cable is white except for the red RCA jack. The retraction instructions appear on the central hub.
When fully extended the cord is 65 centimeters in length.
Installation, Testing and Comparison
Installation involves plugging the iPod Retractable Dock to Audio Stereo Cable into the dock connector of your iPod and the RCA jacks into the Audio In connector on your stereo or other audio device.
The audio volume is controlled from your audio device and not the iPod. This basically integrates your iPod into whatever system you are plugged into. However, you will have to manually change songs or playlists on the iPod.
For my testing, I plugged the iPod Retractable Dock to Audio Stereo Cable into my iPod Nano (1st Generation) and my iPod Video into my stereo and my Bose Wave Radio.
There were no problems using the iPod Retractable Dock to Audio Stereo Cable with either iPod or stereo component.
I tried to plug in my iPhone, but the iPhone did not recognize the device and continued to play back through its built in speakers.
Summary and Comments:
The iPod Retractable Dock to Audio Stereo Cable is a great device to have available for your iPod. It is portable and can plug into almost any stereo device with an RCA connection. There is nothing bad to be said about this product.
